And because they’re multi-fuel, you get the flexibility to burn wood, coal, or smokeless fuel depending on your preference and the occasion. (Please check the stove's compatibility).

Typically, No additional Ventilation Required

Many houses, constructed before 2008 in the UK do not require additional venting when installing a stove in their home with a heat output of upto 5Kw, Why? This is due to the oxygen exchange in the air - More can be learnt about this in our 'Learn' Area.

Installing a duct from the outside to the room your stove is installed within is a common way to create additional ventilation. However, this can create unwanted drafts, and even make the room cold when the stove isn't lite.

Multi-Fuel Stove vs Wood Burning Stove

Benefits of a multifuel stove

Wood burning stoves are fantastic and many new stoves can be highly efficient. However that doesn't mean to say it's the correct stove for your home.

Just a few reasons why a Multi-fuel stove could be the choice for you:

  • Choice of fuel - Wood, Coal (Ideally Smokeless), Some even Pellets.
  • Enabling slow Burn - Leave your stove burning smokeless coal overnight, keeping the temperture up during the night.
  • Constant temperture - Burning Solid fuels such as coal or briquettes allow for a more consistent temperature in comparison to wood only burning stoves.

Wood burning stoves have many benefits, however their use can be widely different.

Whats the Difference between A Multi-Fuel Stove and a wood Burning Stove?

When looking at a stove, the first thing people think of is the crackling as the fuel burns, creating a flame which could light the room.

Whislt burning wood is considered the show piece, burning fuels such as coal requires a slighlty different setup.

Typically, A Multifuel stove typicall consists of:

  • Grate which allows air to flow beneath the fuel to cause fuel to ignite and burn (Burning wood is more effecient on a bed of ash and typically a wood only stove would not have a grate.
  • Multifuel stoves are tpyically fitted with primary and secondary air controls, primary air controls controlling the air flow beneath the fuel, whilst the secondary air controls adjusts the air at the top of the firebox which reignites the gases when burning wood. Secondary air controls are commonly used to create the airwash systems which help maintain clearer glass during the burn.
